                Officers will divert northbound Coleman traffic down Whilden St.   
 

5:00am  Shuttles begin running. Parking/pickup locations for Mount Pleasant: 

                Towne Centre                 
                Whitesides Elementary School                
                Jennie Moore Elementary School                
                Shuttles will return participants to Mount Pleasant from the finish line.   
 

 6:30am  Whilden St. to Houston Northcutt Blvd. on Coleman Blvd. will be closed to vehicle traffic. 

                 Houston Northcutt traffic will be diverted towards the Ravenel Bridge.                 
                 West Coleman traffic will be diverted onto Houston Northcutt.                  
                 Wheelchair athletes escorted to the start line.

Drones and the Cooper River Bridge Run

Cooper River Bridge Run Public Safety Agencies Comment on Use of Drones during the 40^th CRBR

April 1^st marks the 40^th anniversary of the Cooper River Bridge Run.  The run is expected to draw forty thousand runners and up to a hundred thousand spectators along the 6.2 mile course from Mount Pleasant over the Ravenel Bridge and in to the City of Charleston.  

Due to the large number of press and event associated manned aircraft, including fixed wing and helicopters that will be flying on race day, local Public Safety officials are mandating that the public refrain from flying drones along the route and, in particular, in the vicinity of the Ravenel Bridge. “This will help us ensure we have a safe event,” said leaders from the Town of Mount Pleasant, City of Charleston and Charleston County.  Local law enforcement agencies will be monitoring the area and will take appropriate action if they observe drones flying in the vicinity of the race route.

The Mount Pleasant Police Department’s Traffic Bureau continues their investigation into the fatal collision that occurred on I-526 on Friday night, December 2, 2016. All parties involved in this collision have been identified and upon conclusion of the investigation it is anticipated charges will be filed. The Mount Pleasant Police Department extends their condolences to the families and wants to thank the public for their assistance in this case.



12/3/2016 9:45 p.m. Update: We have just located the car and driver from this collision. Thank you to everyone for the assistance!

On December 2, 2016, at approximately 9:53 p.m., officers from the Mount Pleasant Police Department responded to a fatal hit and run collision on Interstate 526 eastbound near Longpoint Road. After the collision, a light blue Kia Sorento left the scene. Witnesses described the Kia as possibly between a 2006-2008 with grey plastic front and rear bumpers. The driver was described as a white male who is approximately 30 years of age with a slender build. Witnesses also described him as having short hair as well as facial hair. A white female was in the passenger seat. The investigation is ongoing.

Mount Pleasant, SC – Mount Pleasant Police arrest suspect involved in New Year’s hit and run on Ben Sawyer Blvd.

 

Joseph Bosso was arrested today for a hit and run that occurred on January 1, 2016 at 12:46am in the parking lot of CVS located at 1401 Ben Sawyer Blvd. Mr. Bosso was charged with Leaving the Scene of a Collision with Great Bodily Injury and Leaving the Scene of a Collision with Personal Injury after he struck two pedestrians and left the area. He was lodged at the Al Cannon, Jr. Detention Center.



 

 

 

 

 



Hit and Run Suspect

The Mount Pleasant Police Department is seeking the public's help to find a suspect involved in a hit and run collision. On January 1, 2016 at 12:46am a silver or grey sport utility vehicle struck two pedestrians in the parking lot of CVS located at 1401 Ben Sawyer Blvd. and then left the scene. The vehicle is described as a newer model and should have damage on both front quarter panels as well as both headlights. The vehicle was last seen heading southbound on Ben Sawyer Blvd. towards Chuck Dawley Blvd. One person was transported to a local hospital.

2015 Law Enforcement Torch Run

Law Enforcement Officers from across the state were involved in the Torch Run for Special Olympics this past weekend. Officers from the Lowcountry began a 127 mile relay at 11:00 am on April 30th, 2015. The relay started on the sands of Sullivan’s Island’s Station 22 1/2 Street and ended on the steps of the Statehouse in Columbia. Appropriately deemed the Coast to the Capital this event coincided with relays from other parts of the state. It concluded at a press conference on the steps of the Capital on May 1st, 2015 announcing the beginning of the Special Olympics Summer Games.

Hit and Run Reported on Highway 41 near Rivertowne

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (October 15, 2014) The Mount Pleasant Police Department responded to a hit and run on October 14, 2014 where a dark in color sports utility vehicle struck a 17 year old teenager who was riding his skateboard. The vehicle continued down Highway 41 towards Highway 17 without stopping at the scene of the collision.


The suspect vehicle was coming from the Berkeley County area on Highway 41 when the vehicle collided with the victim who was crossing the roadway from Rivertowne towards Dunes West. The victim was transported to the hospital due to his injuries. This occurred around 8:24pm.
