Doughnut Eating Contest for Special Olympics

There will be a doughnut eating contest on Nov. 16th at 11:00 a.m. at Krispy Kreme on Savannah Highway! Police vs. media to see who can eat a dozen doughnuts the fastest! We will be raising money and awareness for Special Olympics!

Local law enforcement will be at Krispy Kreme from 6:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. on November 16th and 17th raising money for Special Olympics! Donations of $20.00 gets you a coupon for a free dozen of glazed doughnuts and a South Carolina Law Enforcement Torch Run T-Shirt!

Take a chilling plunge into the Atlantic Ocean to benefit Special Olympics South Carolina. 

In South Carolina, over 26,000 persons with intellectual disabilities benefit from the opportunity to participate in Special Olympics. The organization receives no federal funding and relies on private and corporate support as well as the efforts of hundreds of volunteers to provide services at no cost to the athletes and their families. 

Come join the fun individually or as a team of friends, family, or co-workers! Everyone who participates in the plunge ($50 donation minimum) earns a commemorative Plunge T-shirt and tickets for free food and drinks. Other gifts awarded as well, based on the amount of your donation or the money you raise. Plunge party includes fun for all ages, plungers and spectators alike. Party includes food, music, games and door prizes. Plunge merchandise will be available. All proceeds will benefit Special Olympics South Carolina.

Cops and Doughnuts Part II

Officers from around the Lowcountry were back at Krispy Kreme on Savannah Highway raising money for the Special Olympics. Cops squared off with a doughnut eating contest and the winner was Chief Turner from the Hanahan PD. His time to put away 12 glazed doughnuts: 1 minute 15 seconds!

Our final day at Krispy Kreme is tomorrow. We will be there from 6am to 6pm. Please come out and help us raise funds for these great athletes!

We will be at Krispy Kreme on Savannah Hwy today, tomorrow and Saturday raising money for Special Olympics. Stop by between 6am and 6pm each day. Today the media squared off in a doughnut eating contest where Andy Pruitt defended his title successfully. He downed a dozen glazed doughnuts in 2 minutes 40 seconds. Tomorrow the cops square off at the table at 11:00am!

Special Olympics Event

Special Olympics Torch Run to Westview Primary

This morning Deputy Chief Gragg, Cpl. Postell, Cpl. Brandon and Pfc. Joly ran from the Goose Creek Police Department to Westview Primary School. They carried the Special Olympics Torch to the school and lit the cauldron in celebration of their athletes. You can see more pictures on our Facebook Page at www.facebook.com/mountpleasantpd.

2015 Law Enforcement Torch Run

Law Enforcement Officers from across the state were involved in the Torch Run for Special Olympics this past weekend. Officers from the Lowcountry began a 127 mile relay at 11:00 am on April 30th, 2015. The relay started on the sands of Sullivan’s Island’s Station 22 1/2 Street and ended on the steps of the Statehouse in Columbia. Appropriately deemed the Coast to the Capital this event coincided with relays from other parts of the state. It concluded at a press conference on the steps of the Capital on May 1st, 2015 announcing the beginning of the Special Olympics Summer Games.

Law Enforcement Torch Run

Law Enforcement Officers from across the state are involved in the Torch Run for Special Olympics and the Officers from the Lowcountry are no exception.  Beginning at 11:00 am on April 30th, 2015 Law Enforcement Officers will begin an approximately 127mile relay of a Special Olympics Torch from the sands of Sullivan’s Island’s Station 

22 1/2 Street to the steps of the Statehouse in Columbia. Appropriately deemed the Coast to the Capital this event will coincide with relays from other parts of the state and conclude at a press conference on the steps of the Capital on May 1st, 2015 announcing the beginning of the Special Olympics Summer Games.  At 6:00 pm officers will join forces for a 7.5 mile run from the Capital to Fort Jackson where the torch will be carried into the Summer Games.  

This represents Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics continued commitment to increase awareness, raise funds, and provide support for South Carolina’sapproximately 22,593 Special Olympic Athletes.
