Cops and Kids Pizza Night

The Mount Pleasant Police Department is proud to partner with Coastal Crust and Vintage Coffee & Cafe to offer a Cops and Kids Pizza Night on Wednesday, May 4th, 2016 from 6:00-8:00pm at Vintage Coffee & Cafe (219 Simmons Street). Coastal Crust, who specializes in wood-fired Neapolitan style pizza, will be set up on-site to provide an all-you-can-eat buffet style pizza dining experience, and Mount Pleasant Police Officers will be on-scene interacting with families and signing Buddy Cards for the kids. Bank Robbery Suspect Arrested

Mount Pleasant, SC – On April 26, 2016, at approximately 5 p.m., Kyle Edward Templeton was arrested in connection with the April 22nd bank robbery that occurred at the CresCom Bank, 1492 Stuart Engals Blvd. Templeton was arrested by troopers of the Mississippi Highway Patrol Troop K, during their investigation of a vehicle collision that occurred at a rest stop off I-10. Upon his return to South Carolina, Templeton will be charged with Entering a Bank with the Intent to Steal. Templeton also faces criminal charges in Mississippi. Templeton is currently lodged at the Hancock County Detention Center in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi. We want to thank the Mississippi Highway Patrol for their help during this investigation!

Mount Pleasant Police Release Photos of Bank Robbery

On April 22, 2016, at approximately 12:00 p.m., the above pictured suspect walked into CresCom Bank in the 1400 block of Highway 17 North. The suspect demanded money and kept his hand in his pocket alluding to the fact that he had a weapon. The suspect left the bank on foot with an undisclosed amount of money. The suspect is described as being approximately 30-35 years old, approximately 5'10"- 6'00" in height, weighing approximately 150-170lbs, red hair, and medium style beard. He was wearing a black/red long sleeve shirt with red lettering, dark shoes, black aviator style sunglasses, and was carrying a black portfolio. The suspect is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information of the identity of the suspect is asked to call Det. Fey in the Investigations Bureau at 843-884-4176. 2nd Shooting Suspect Arrested

On April 20, 2016, at approximately 11:30 a.m., William N. Alston, Jr. was arrested in connection with the April 6 th shooting in Remely’s Point near Mathis Ferry Road. Alston was arrested during a traffic stop on Remount Road near Rivers Avenue by the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force with the assistance of the Mount Pleasant Police Department and the Charleston City Police Department. Alston has been charged with Attempted Murder and is lodged at the Al Cannon, Jr. Detention Center.

Emergency Protective Custody

Mount Pleasant, South Carolina - On April 18, 2016, at approximately 9:35 p.m., patrol officers responded to the Ravenel Bridge for an individual who was walking in the roadway. When officers made contact with the man, he told officers to stay back or he would jump off of the bridge. Officers attempted to establish communications with the man but he continued to walk southbound towards East Bay Street. At one point the man stepped over the barrier before returning to the roadway.   When the individual exited onto East Bay Street, officers placed him into emergency protective custody. He was then transported by EMS to a nearby hospital for treatment.

CAPTURED Darryl Evans, II was captured today by the United States Marshals Fugitive Task Force with the help of the Mount Pleasant Police Department, the Charleston City Police Department, the North Charleston Police Department and the Charleston County Sheriff's Office. Evans was wanted in connection with the shooting that occurred on April 6, 2016 in Remley's Point near Mathis Ferry Road.

Publix Incident

Mount Pleasant, SC – Update 4/15/2016 1:20pm - Chief Carl Ritchie and Deputy Chief Stan Gragg met with the management of Publix and their employee this morning. We also spoke to the officer that was involved. With all of the information gathered, we feel that this was a case of miscommunication that created a misunderstanding. We do not believe there was any malicious intent on the part of Publix or their employee. Our officer was provided service by another employee before he left the store. We appreciate the strong partnership we have with Publix and consider this matter closed. We are aware of an incident involving our officer and the claim that he was refused service at Publix. Due to the seriousness of the allegation, our Chief and Deputy Chief met with the management of Publix and believe that the initial information put out via social media is inaccurate. We will release more information regarding this incident as we look into the matter.

Blue Light Bowling

MPPD Kicks off Free Blue Light Bowling Camp Registration MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (April 13, 2016) - Registration for the Mount Pleasant Police Department Summer Blue Light Bowling Camp kicked off today. “This favorite community outreach program is free and fosters positive relationships with the youth of our community,” said Mount Pleasant Police Chief Carl Ritchie. ”Children ages 5-14 have the opportunity to bowl with an officer for two hours and develop lasting relationships with our men and women in blue.” The Blue Light Bowling Camp will take place on June 15, June 29, July 13 and July 27, 2016, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. Theft of a Utility Trailer

        The Mount Pleasant Police Department is seeking the public's help to identify the person(s) responsible for stealing the trailer pictured above. On April 4, 2016 at about 7:00pm, the suspect(s) stole a utility trailer from Germain Dermatology located on Seacoast Parkway using the white van seen in the pictures. If anyone has information on the suspect's van or the whereabouts of the trailer, please call the Mount Pleasant Police Department's Investigations Bureau at 843-884-4176. Wanted for Attempted Murder - CAPTURED

Darryl Nicholas Evans, II DOB:   06/26/1991 Height:   6’00”     Weight:   240lbs LKA:   36 Ashley Hall Plantation Road Charleston. SC 29407     Mount Pleasant, SC – The Mount Pleasant Police Department is searching for Darryl Nicholas Evans, II in connection to a shooting that occurred on April 6, 2016. Darryl Evans is wanted for Attempted Murder and for Possession of a Weapon During the Commission of a Violent Crime. The suspect is believed to have ties in downtown Charleston. During the investigation it was revealed that this shooting was not random as the victim was  the intended target. Darryl Evans is a black male who is 6’00” tall and weighs 240lbs. April 6, 2016 Shooting Update

      The investigation into the April 6, 2016 shooting remains active as detectives track down leads and speak to witnesses. Ravenel Bridge Shooting

Mount Pleasant, SC – On March 31, 2016 officers responded to the Ravenel Bridge in reference to a shooting that involved two persons. Both individuals passed away as a result of the injuries they sustained. At this point there are no other persons or suspects believed to be involved in this incident. Autopsies are scheduled for this morning and more information will be released after the results are obtained. The investigation of the scene on the Ravenel Bridge is complete and will not have an impact on the Cooper River Bridge run scheduled for tomorrow. There will be a joint press conference at 3:00pm with Coroner Rae Wooten and Chief Carl Ritchie. This press conference will be held at 100 Ann Edwards Lane within the Emergency Operations Center.
