Helping a Family in Louisiana

Comeaux Family

The Mount Pleasant Police Department will be at Target (1300 Long Grove Dr.) assisting a local 8 year old young boy reach his goal of helping a family that lost everything from the floods in Louisiana. Kameron Smalls woke up one morning and felt a calling to help those that were devastated from the recent floods. Two of our officers were at a back to school event at a local church when they first heard Kameron get up and speak about this vision. Kameron will be collecting goods for the Comeaux family, pictured above. 

We will be at Target from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. taking product and monetary donations. Local food trucks will also be on hand.

National Night Out 2016 Press Release









Mount Pleasant, SC – On August 2th, 2016 join over 37 million people in 16,124 communities to celebrate America’s National Night Out Against Crime.

“This year we are consolidating our resources into one location,” said Inspector Chip Googe. “The event will be in the Target parking lot from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. We encourage everyone to stop by and meet some of the officers that patrol their community. ”

We will have numerous bureaus on display such as our K9 Officers, Bike Team, SWAT, and Patrol Units. The Mount Pleasant Fire Department will also be on hand with their smoke house that can be used to teach lifesaving skills. Consolidated Dispatch will be have a booth set up to talk about Smart911 . There will be a bicycle raffle, snow cones, a jump castle, dunk tank, pizza, and more!

Blue Light Bowling







MPPD Kicks off Free Blue Light Bowling Camp Registration

MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (April 13, 2016) - Registration for the Mount Pleasant Police Department Summer Blue Light Bowling Camp kicked off today. “This favorite community outreach program is free and fosters positive relationships with the youth of our community,” said Mount Pleasant Police Chief Carl Ritchie. ”Children ages 5-14 have the opportunity to bowl with an officer for two hours and develop lasting relationships with our men and women in blue.”

The Blue Light Bowling Camp will take place on June 15, June 29, July 13 and July 27, 2016, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. Check-in begins at 9:30 a.m. at PINZ Bowling Alley, 613 Johnnie Dodds Blvd., Mount Pleasant.

“We limit each event to 50 Mount Pleasant students and we urge you to register soon. Registration is available online at www.tompsc.com. Visit our Police Youth Programs page and sign up,” said Sgt. William Mauldin. “Each bowler will receive a complimentary tee-shirt, pizza and soda.”

Cops and Snacks 2016





Stop by Target at 1300 Long Grove Drive on February 12th, 2016 from 10am to 3pm to help us fill a cruiser with snacks for James B. Edwards Elementary School’s Snack Program. The school provides snacks for those children who are unable to bring their own. They currently go through about 600 snacks a month! Any unopened snack items are gladly accepted!

Cops and Kids Pizza Night





Join us for Cops and Pizza Night at Mellow Mushroom (3110 North Highway 17) on January 11, 2016 from 5-9pm. Cost is $5 for a small cheese pizza or get a free kids meal! Have your Buddy Cards signed and meet some of your neighborhood cops!

Mount Pleasant Police Expand Twitter Use




Mount Pleasant, SC – Mount Pleasant Police Officers assigned to the Social Media Team now have their own accounts to engage the community. “We were looking for a way to encourage more interaction between officers and the community,” says Inspector Chip Googe. “This gives our citizens more access to officers from different bureaus.” Each of these accounts will post information relevant to their bureaus. Citizens are encouraged to ask questions and get to know the officers that serve the community. These accounts will not be monitored 24/7 and Inspector Googe advises to call 911 in an emergency. Chief Ritchie and several officers attended the White Hall Terrace Community Black and White Banquet on Saturday. The theme of the event was "Bringing the Community Together". Chief Ritchie spoke to the attendees about the importance of community policing and working together in a partnership to solve issues. We want to thank the White Hall Community for inviting us to this event. The support we have from our community is overwhelming!

Career Fair for Belle Hall Elementary



One of our School Resource Officers, Cpl. Bill Dorfner, was able to set up an area to meet children from Belle Hall Elementary at their career fair this morning. All of the kids were excited and asked thoughtful questions about our job. Thank you to Belle Hall for inviting us!
