Officer Wins Life-Saving Award

Congratulations to FTO Frederick who was given a Life-Saving Award by Chief Mixon, of The Town of Mount Pleasant Fire Department, for her part in helping a citizen in the Old Village last month! Ofc. Sanford (not pictured) also received this award for the same incident! Great work! We are proud of you!

We also want to congratulate Officer Lawson on his promotion to Police Officer First Class!

Officer Awards

This morning we had several officers recognized for their hard work!

Sergeant Simmons was recognized for making the Dean's List while attending the three month long Southern Police Institute!

Officer Morgan (far right) was recognized with a Gold DUI Hero award for making 50 or more DUI arrests in 2017.

The following officers were recognized as a Bronze DUI Hero for having between 10-24 DUI arrests in 2017 (left to right):

Inspector Googe was given the Life Saving Award by Fire Chief Mixon for his actions to prevent a suicidal person from jumping off of the Ravenel Bridge.

Town Employee of the Month

We want to congratulate Pfc. Jones on being named the Town of Mount Pleasant's Employee of the Month!

Pfc. Jones was on patrol when she observed an elderly person who had wandered from her home, fell, and became incapacitated. Pfc. Jones summoned medical assistance and then located a family member to let them know what had happened. It was determined that the person had been down on the sidewalk for about 4 hours on a cold night. Pfc. Jones' diligent patrol and quick response spared the woman further discomfort and potentially saved her life!

Mount Pleasant Police Recognizes Employees

The Mount Pleasant Police Department recognized the hard work and dedication of their employees today at an awards luncheon held at headquarters. Chief Ritchie and his command staff presented the following awards:

Officer of the Year - Pfc. Bradley Strode
Investigator of the Year - Det. Logan Fey
Civilian of the Year - Renice Williams
Rookie of the Year - Pfc. Patrick Crosson


The Mount Pleasant Fire Department also honored Pfc. Jonathan Rustin with the Life Saving award for his actions at the Christmas parade. Pfc. Rustin was alerted to a toddler who was choking and he took quick action to dislodge the piece of candy blocking her airway.
