2018 Statistics

Mount Pleasant, S.C. - In 2018, the Town of Mount Pleasant saw a 10.6% decrease in violent crime from 2017. Violent crime categories include murder, robbery, and aggravated assault. There was also a 5.5% decrease in non-violent crime such as theft from a vehicle, shoplifting, and simple assault. We attribute the overall decrease in crime to our dedicated, professional police officers as well as the strong partnership we have with our community!  The partnership we have with our citizens and the business community is an important component of having a safe town!

In an effort to further reduce crime in Mount Pleasant, there are a few tasks we would like our community to help us with. To help reduce thefts from vehicles we are asking everyone to remove valuables from your car, roll up your windows, and lock your doors. Do these while you are out during the day but also get into the habit of doing this before you retire at night. We send out reminders on our social media platforms to complete the #9PMRoutine for this very reason. When you remove valuables, please remember to remove spare keys and key fobs as well. Completing these simple tasks can help reduce your chances of becoming a victim of crime. Finally, If you see anything suspicious, call 843-743-7200 so we can send an officer out to check on it. Thank you for allowing us to serve this amazing community!
