We had an awesome day with some amazing kids today! We started out at Chick-fil-A North Mount Pleasant for lunch and then headed over to Wal-Mart to shop! Officer Wins Life-Saving Award

Congratulations to FTO Frederick who was given a Life-Saving Award by Chief Mixon, of The Town of Mount Pleasant Fire Department, for her part in helping a citizen in the Old Village last month! Ofc. Sanford (not pictured) also received this award for the same incident! Great work! We are proud of you!

We also want to congratulate Officer Lawson on his promotion to Police Officer First Class!

2018 Sober or Slammer Campaign

Law enforcement agencies all across the Lowcountry are out looking for impaired drivers! Please designate before you celebrate! Use a ride-hailing service like Lyft or Uber, call a taxi, or designate a friend to get you home safely this holiday season! We want you to arrive alive!

Safe Senior Program

The Town of Mount Pleasant is offering a Senior Awareness for Everyone (S.A.F.E.) program to assist senior citizens and those with special needs. S.A.F.E. is a voluntary program for eligible citizens living in the town who may not have family or friends nearby who can check on them on a regular basis. The S.A.F.E. program allows the police and fire departments to document names of eligible citizens, where they reside, important contact information, and medical information for use during emergency responses. Police personnel may be assigned to check on these citizens to see if they require any special assistance.

Emergency contact information is vital in the event a citizen becomes ill and must be transported to the hospital. The designated contact person can be notified so that important medical information can be retrieved.

Who Is This For?

*Senior citizens age 60 and older
*Those who are 55 and retired
*Any disabled citizen

Special Olympics Polar Plunge

Take a chilling plunge into the Atlantic Ocean to benefit Special Olympics South Carolina.  

In South Carolina, over 29,000 persons with intellectual disabilities benefit from the opportunity to participate in Special Olympics. The organization receives no federal funding and relies on private and corporate support as well as the efforts of hundreds of volunteers to provide services at no cost to the athletes and their families.

Come join the fun individually or as a team of friends, family, or

co-workers! The plunge is free, but for those who raise a minimum of $50 they receive a commemorative Plunge T-shirt and tickets for free food, drinks, and door prizes. Other gifts awarded as well, based on the amount of your donation or the money you raise.  Plunge party includes fun for all ages, plungers and spectators alike. Plunge merchandise will be available. All proceeds will benefit Special Olympics South Carolina.

Christmas Parade Information

Brilliantly lit floats and community groups will march up West Coleman Boulevard as the Mount Pleasant Christmas Light Parade sets sail to the delight of thousands of residents and visitors. 

The festivities begin at 5:30 p.m. with a spectacular Pyrotechnico fireworks show, immediately followed by the start of the parade at Mill St. traveling south and ending at the intersection of West Coleman Blvd. and Patriots Point Road.

Coleman Boulevard Road Closure Schedule:
Whilden St. to Pherigo St. closes at 4:00 p.m. for the lineup
Whilden St. to Patriots Point Rd. closes at 5:00 p.m.
Ravenel Bridge off-ramp onto Coleman Blvd. closes at 5:00 (all traffic diverted to Highway 17)
Patriots Point Rd. from Coleman Blvd. to Harry Hallman Blvd. closes at 5:00 (all Patriots Point and hotel/golf course traffic will divert onto Harry Hallman)

To help ensure we have a safe event, the Town of Mount Pleasant is requesting that drone pilots not fly over or along the parade route. Pilots are reminded that the Federal Aviation Authority requires a Part 107 Waiver if you are going to fly at night or fly over people. Sober or Slammer 2018

Yesterday the 9th Circuit Law Enforcement Network kicked off their Sober or Slammer campaign. Officers throughout the Lowcountry are looking to take impaired drivers off of the roadways of South Carolina! We urge you to use a designated driver, call a taxi, or use a ride-hailing service if you intend to drink this holiday season! We want you to enjoy the holidays and #ArriveAlive!
