Attempted Armed Robbery





 
 
 
Mount Pleasant, SC – On December 31, 2016, at approximately 6:05 p.m., officers from the Mount Pleasant Police Department responded to 774 South Shelmore Blvd. (Pleasant Liquors) regarding an attempted armed robbery. The suspect came into the store and demanded money from the clerk. When the clerk advised that she did not have a key, the suspect fired his weapon but the clerk was not harmed. The suspect is described as a black male who is approximately 5’4” tall. He was wearing a baseball cap and a dark colored hoodie sweatshirt.

Attempted Murder Suspect Arrested

On August 20, 2016, at approximately 3:40 a.m., officers from the Mount Pleasant Police Department responded to Perseverance Street in reference to a stabbing. Matthew Barnes was attending a house party at this location when an altercation broke out with another guest. During the altercation, Matthew Barnes produced a knife and stabbed the first victim in the neck and abdomen. A second victim was cut on the arm and shoulder. Both victims were transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries and have since been released. Matthew Barnes turned himself in to officers today and has been charged with Attempted Murder, Assault and Battery of a High and Aggravated Nature, and Possession of a Weapon During the Commission of a Violent Crime.

Attempted Armed Robbery


On 2/4/2016 at approximately 11:55pm two suspects entered the Kangaroo Station on Bessemer Rd. with the apparent intent to rob the clerk. The clerk was able to evade the subjects who quickly left the store. It is not known whether the two left on foot or in a vehicle.
