Town Employee of the Month

We want to congratulate Pfc. Jones on being named the Town of Mount Pleasant's Employee of the Month! Pfc. Jones was on patrol when she observed an elderly person who had wandered from her home, fell, and became incapacitated. Pfc. Jones summoned medical assistance and then located a family member to let them know what had happened. It was determined that the person had been down on the sidewalk for about 4 hours on a cold night. Pfc. Jones' diligent patrol and quick response spared the woman further discomfort and potentially saved her life!

2018 Special Olympics Polar Plunge

The organization receives no federal funding and relies on private and corporate support as well as the efforts of hundreds of volunteers to provide services at no cost to the athletes and their families.   Come join the fun individually or as a team of friends, family, or co-workers! Everyone who participates in the plunge ($50 donation minimum) earns a commemorative Plunge T-shirt and tickets for free food and drinks. Town Offices Will Remain Closed Jan. 5 Due to Severe Winter Storm Hazards

By Martine Wolfe-Miller, Town of Mount Pleasant Communications Officer MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (January 3, 2018 - Update 4:38 p.m.)  – Town of Mount Pleasant emergency and essential personnel have launched initial recovery efforts following Winter Storm Grayson, while continuing to address expected hazardous road conditions overnight and into Friday afternoon. Due to these continued concerns regarding severe road conditions, the Town of Mount Pleasant will suspend normal operations and remain closed on Friday, January 5. Police, Fire and Public Services personnel as well as administrative staff will continue to work Friday and through the weekend to restore road conditions and ensure public safety. All normal Town operations will resume on Monday, January 8. The Town continues to urge residents to stay off the roadway as temperatures are expected to plummet during the evening causing the road surface to freeze and turn to ice. Police Chief Urges Residents to Exercise Extreme Caution on the Roadways By Martine Wolfe-Miller, Town of Mount Pleasant Communications Officer MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (January 4, 2018) -  Mount Pleasant Police Chief Carl Ritchie is urging residents of Mount Pleasant to stay home tonight as public safety staff continues to mitigate the ice impacts of Winter Storm Grayson. "A National Weather Service Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for our area until tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. and calls for extreme caution on our roadways," he said "Despite a bit of melting today, temps will quickly fall below freezing this evening and overnight. Any wet stops on the roadways will refreeze, causing treacherous travel conditions due to black ice. Avoid travel if possible! Town Offices Will Remain Closed Tomorrow, January 4, Due Winter Storm Conditions By Martine Wolfe-Miller, Town of Mount Pleasant Communications Officer MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (January 3, 2018 - Update 4:38 p.m.)  – The Town of Mount Pleasant facilities will be closed Thursday, January 4, as the impacts of Winter Storm Grayson are felt through the Lowcountry. The Town is expected to resume normal scheduled activities as early as Friday, January 5. The Town will inform the public accordingly. The Emergency Operations Center was activated at 6:00 a.m. today and moved to OPCON level 3 at 2 p.m., in a full emergency response to the winter storm. All emergency personnel and operations will remain active during the weather event. By Martine Wolfe-Miller, Mount Pleasant Communications Manager MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (January 2, 2018) –  The Town of Mount Pleasant facilities will be closed Wednesday, January 3, due to the expected snow and ice impacts of Winter Storm Grayson. The Town is expected to resume normal scheduled activities as early as Thursday, January 4. The Town will inform the public accordingly. The Emergency Operations Center will be activated at 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 3. All emergency personnel and operations will remain active during the storm event. Please note the following changes to regularly scheduled town activities: • Due to inclement weather the Mount Pleasant Municipal Court will be closed Wednesday January 3, 2018. All cases will be rescheduled. The court office, once reopened, will send out notification via mail with the new scheduled court date and time. •  Trash and garbage pickup schedule: Tuesday route will be collected on Thursday, Wednesday route will be collected o
