Passwords can be inconvienient, but they're important if you want to keep your information safe. Check out this flyer for ways to make your accounts more secure.



New Traffic Pattern

 

 

 

 

Crews will be paving at the intersection of Park West Boulevard and Bessemer Road on Saturday, May 21, 2016 from 7:00 am until 5:00 pm.  This paving operation will cause delays.  The Public may want to seek alternate routes during these hours.  Should there be a rain delay this operation will take place on Monday, May 23.

There will be a NEW traffic pattern as follows:

New Speed Limit will be 20 MPH.

Traffic on Park West Boulevard from both directions will have Yield Signs.

Traffic on Bessemer Road continues to have a Stop Sign.

Please use extra caution while driving in this construction zone. 

Remember “Let them work, let them live”.

 



Scam Alert

A scammer is calling guests that are staying in a hotel posing as the General Manager and requesting credit card information. Sometimes the caller tells guests that they forgot to put a credit card on file with the front desk and then offers to take the information over the telephone.

Please do not give your credit card over the telephone if you receive a call like this. Check with the front desk in person so that scammers do not steal your information.

Law Enforcement Day - Canceled Due to Weather Concerns

On May 20, 2016 from 12:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., the Mount Pleasant Police Department will host Law Enforcement Day at the Towne Centre. There will be displays from The Mount Pleasant Police Department, the Isle of Palms Police Department, the Sullivan’s Island Police Department, and Charleston County Consolidated Dispatch. Officers will also be on hand to check child safety seats for proper installation and offer tips on how to keep your child safe in a car.

 

“We want our community to come out and meet the officers that serve the East Cooper area,” says Inspector Chip Googe. “Our goal is to have a strong partnership with our citizens and this event allows our community to talk with officers while seeing the tools we use to keep them safe.”

Law Enforcement Day will be at the Towne Centre right in front of the parking garage. Some of the units we will have on display include:

·         K-9

·         Boat Patrol

·         Traffic Bureau

·         Bicycle Unit

·         SWAT Team



Identification Needed

The Mount Pleasant Police Department is seeking the public's help in identifying the woman pictured above. She is suspected of trying to cash a stolen check.

Two Factor Authentication

Two-factor authentication (also referred to as two-step or multi-factor authentication or verification or 2FA) is an overly technical-sounding term for a simple solution.
It’s a security tool that uses multiple verification techniques to prove that the person attempting to log in to an account is really them.

There are a variety of methods you can use to log in to an account with two-factor authentication, including
Something you know: a password, code, passphrase or PIN
Something you have: a physical token, chip, fob, or phone

These methods provide an extra layer of security. Most people only have one layer – their passwords – to protect their accounts. But combining something you know (your password) with something you have (like your mobile device or a token) makes your account even more secure.

Never give out your code to anyone! Someone asking for your code to verify you are the correct owner is a social engineering trick to get you to hand over access to your account. Don't fall for it!
