Officers Involved in a Collision




On May 20, 2017, at approximately 3:00 a.m., two officers from the Mount Pleasant Police Department were investigating a suspect for driving under the influence on Highway 17 near Shelmore Blvd. Moments after arresting this driver, another vehicle struck the rear of one of the Mount Pleasant Police vehicles that was then pushed into the second police vehicle. The officers and their suspect were knocked to the ground as a result. The South Carolina Highway Patrol was called to investigate the collision and did arrest the driver for driving under the influence. Both officers and their arrestee were transported to a local hospital where they were released earlier this morning.

Mount Pleasant, SC – On June 9, 2017, Cortlyn Brown was charged with Armed Robbery in connection with the incident that occurred at the United Community Bank in Park West on May 12, 2017.

 
 





Mount Pleasant, SC – On May 18th, 2017, Kalee D. Lynn-Bishop and Kamal D’Andrea Backman were arrested and charged with Armed Robbery stemming from the incident at United Community Bank in Park West on May 12th, 2017.
“Our detectives worked around the clock following every lead to identify these dangerous individuals and take them into custody,” said Chief Carl Ritchie.
The investigation into this case is ongoing.

The Mount Pleasant Police Department is seeking the public's help to identify the subject pictured above. He is suspected of using a stolen credit card to purchase cigarettes at various stores in North Charleston.

Cops and Kids Pizza Night

 
 
 
The Mount Pleasant Police Department is proud to partner with Coastal Crust to offer a Cops and Kids Pizza Night on Wednesday, May 10th, 2017 from 5:00-7:00pm at Vintage Coffee & Cafe (219 Simmons Street). Coastal Crust, who specializes in wood-fired Neapolitan style pizza, will provide an all you can eat dining experience, and Mount Pleasant Police Officers will be on-scene interacting with families and signing Buddy Cards for the kids. Children 14 years and under are free; Adults and children 15 years and older are $10 (drinks included: water, sweet tea, or lemonade).
Registration for the event is required and will close on Wednesday, May 3, 2017.
