Weekend Traffic Alert






This Friday, Saturday, and Sunday the Strawberry Festival will take place at Boone Hall Plantation. You can expect heavy traffic on Highway 17 and Longpoint Road around Boone Hall Plantation during this event. The right lane southbound on Highway 17 in front of Boone Hall will be used for event traffic only. We will have officers on traffic control points but it is suggested that you use alternate routes if possible.

This Sunday is also the 32nd Annual Blessing of the Fleet & Seafood Festival at Memorial Waterfront Park. This event is scheduled to run from 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Traffic may also be heavy in this area. To learn more about this event, visit http://www.tompsc.com/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=2105

Drug Take Back Day




When: April 27, 2019 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.

Where: Tidewater Pharmacy 491 Johnnie Dodds Blvd.
             Wal-Mart Wando Crossing

What: Turn in your unused or expired medication for safe disposal on April 27th, 2019, from 10am to 2pm at Tidewater Pharmacy and at Wal-Mart in Wando Crossing. We are unable to accept liquids, syringes, or inhalers.

Fatal Collision



Mount Pleasant, S.C. - On April 7, 2019, at approximately 2:23 a.m., officers from the Mount Pleasant Police Department responded to Rifle Range Road near Hamlin Road in reference to a single car collision. The vehicle was heading southbound on Rifle Range Road when it left the roadway and struck a tree. The driver and the passenger were pronounced dead at the scene. The Mount Pleasant Police Department’s Traffic Bureau is investigating this collision and more information will be released as it becomes available.

2019 Cooper River Bridge Run - Mount Pleasant Road Closings




Friday, April 5

9:00 a.m. - Expect intermittent diversions on Coleman Blvd. especially between Simmons St. and Hibben St. as the starting line and fencing are installed.

Watch for different traffic patterns around the starting line!


Saturday, April 6

3:00 a.m. – Closure from Ben Sawyer Blvd. at Chuck Dawley Blvd. (southbound traffic diverted to Chuck Dawley Blvd) to Coleman at Hibben St. (northbound traffic diverted into the Old Village).

6:00 a.m. – Closure of route from West Coleman Blvd. at Magrath Darby (traffic diverted to Magrath Darby to US 17) to Coleman at Hibben St.

6:30 a.m. – Closure of the pedestrian lane on the Ravenel Bridge.

7:00 a.m. – Closure of the Ravenel Bridge northbound and southbound.

11:00 a.m. – The anticipated opening of the entire route on the Mount Pleasant side to include the Ravenel Bridge both directions.
