Coast to the Capital

On May 10th, 2018 at 9:30 am Law Enforcement Officers from around the Lowcountry will begin a 130-mile relay of a Special Olympics Flame of Hope. Starting from the beach at Sullivan’s Island’s Station 22 1/2 Street, officers will escort the Torch to the steps of the Statehouse in Columbia.

Appropriately deemed the Coast to the Capital, this event will coincide with relays from other parts of the state and conclude with a press conference on the steps of the Capital on May 11th, 2018 announcing the beginning of the Special Olympics Summer Games.  At 6:00 pm on May 11th, officers will continue their journey for a 7.5 mile run from the Capital to Fort Jackson where the torch will be used to light the cauldron for the Summer Games.

This represents the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics continued commitment to increase awareness, raise funds, and provide support for South Carolina’s 28,902 Special Olympic Athletes.
